In addition to offering free professional photographs for our recipient families, On Angels' Wings is dedicated to making sure they receive the emotional support they need in order to cope with their loss. We also believe in awareness, helping the community to learn about genetic disorders and other conditions that may affect their families.
As such, we partner with several organizations in the community, exchanging referrals as needs arise.
M.E.N.D. (Mommies Enduring Neonatal Death) of Southwest Missouri
M.E.N.D. is a support ministry for parents and family members who have suffered the death of a baby from conception to about one year of age. The M.E.N.D. support group meets on the first Thursday of every month. Additionally, M.E.N.D. provides awareness and grievance events for the community, such as the annual Balloon Release in October (honoring Pregnancy and Infancy Loss Awareness Month) and the Candlelight Vigil each Christmas season.Contact the M.E.N.D. Chapter Director, Heather Fann, for more information.
Logan Ruth SMA Foundation
Our connection to theLogan Ruth SMA Foundationgoes back to the very first session done under the On Angels' Wings name of sweet baby Logan who was born with the genetic disorder known as SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). The foundation his mom, Tia, started after his death seeks to raise awareness of SMA in the Springfield community and provide support for families who must face the same genetic disorder. Amazingly, although one in every 40 individuals is a carrier for the SMA gene, few even know the condition exists. OAW works with the Logan Ruth SMA Foundation as best we can -- whether through financial support or by providing volunteers and photographers at events -- in order to help Tia in her mission to raise awareness.
Lost & Found
The pain that follows the loss of a child is not secluded to parents; siblings are effected in pivotal ways as well. That is why OAW supports the efforts of Lost & Found, which provides grief support services in a safe and supportive environment, at no charge, for children, young adults, and their families grieving the death of a loved one.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ozarks
The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children in the Ozarks. Our first priority is to provide a "home away from home" for families when their seriously-ill or injured child is in a hospital far from home. Since 1988 our cornerstone project, the Ronald McDonald House, has embraced more than 8,277 families during a time of unspeakable hardship.
